OFFICE HOURS OF TAX COLLECTOR: January Hours Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., February & March Hours – Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Payments are also accepted via drop box or mail. Online payments can be made (a fee will apply) Pay online at: https://egov.basgov.com/amsterdam

The final day for collection of taxes is Sunday, March 31st. You mail leave payments in our drop box, mail (must be postmarked by 03/31) or pay by credit card, debit card or e-check on-line. Refer to the Tax Collector page. Town Hall is closed on Friday, March 29 in observance of Good Friday.

Current year County Taxes are due between January 1 – January 31st without penalty, 1% interest is added in February and 2% interest is added in March.

The Tax Collector is designated by law to collect all state, county and special fees relating to all properties within the Town of Amsterdam. Tax Bills are mailed to owners and due in January of each year.  Taxpayers are welcome to pay taxes in person at Town Hall. Receipts will be provided immediately or mailed to the property owner. Many property owners pay their property taxes through bank held escrow accounts or by mail. If you need to inquire about your taxes, please call 518-842-7961 and have your SBL # ready. Should you need an address change, please contact the office directly.

HOW TO PAY YOUR TAXES

• Make checks/money orders payable to: Kim S. Smith, Tax Collector
• Write SBL numbers(s) on your check/money order and mail stub with your payment.
• Mail payments to: Kim S. Smith, Tax Collector, 283 Manny’s Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
• We accept US Postmark for payment date

PAY IN PERSON: Amsterdam Town Hall

• Payments can be made in the form of cash, check or money order. Check or money order are preferred.
• Credit or debit card payments are accepted on-line only.
